The invasion of Mexico in 1521 gave rise to one of the richest
cooking revolutions in history. When the Spanish traveler Cortez
and his followers came to the new world in search of luck, they
found a riches of cooking specialty such as chocolate, peanuts,
vanilla, beans, squash, avocados, coconuts, corn, tomatoes etc.
In turn the Spanish bring to the Americas products such as a like
white meat, beef, chicken, citrus fruits, garlic, cheese, milk,
wheat, vinegar and wine.
Montezuma, the great Aztec monarch, was previously warned that
one of the day bearded men mounted on animals like huge deer would
approach to take over his area, so when Montezuma hear that men
had land at Vera Cruz he was not astonished. He made every crack
to keep them in Vera Cruz by donation them great resources, but
after seeing the resources it spurred them on to see where the resources
came from.
On the past November 8, 1519, Cortez entered Montezuma's capitol
was beside with seven thousand native soldiers he had recruited
along the way. He was usual by Montezuma and given a great feast,
but the pleasant relations between the Spanish captain and the Aztec
emperor were short lived. After many bleeding battles, on August
13th 1521, Cortez claimed the capitol.
The conquerors methodically damaged the Aztec territory and replaced
it with Spanish structures and also are Institutions, but they not
ever succeeded in extinguishing the native civilization and traditions,
and which is the still part of Mexico today.
